Eve and Charlie find love in a place named Eden, but it’s not a flowery garden. Eve is a test subject and Charlie is her guard.
Eve has lived her entire life in a hidden, underground complex called Eden. Decades earlier a group of clever scientists combined human and alien DNA, creating Eve and her fellow prisoners. Each of them have a range of paranormal abilities, and they’ve been poked and prodded and studied since the day they were created.
Eve longs for freedom, but it seems impossible, until Charlie, her new guard, joins the place. He is nothing like the scientists that run Eden. Charlie is kind and handsome, and they soon fall in love and begin to plan Eve’s escape.
Will they be able to remain hidden, or will the guards track them down and drag her back to her prison, killing Charlie in the process? When Eve discovers she’s pregnant, the stakes are raised even higher.

Author’s Foreword
At some point in their lives many people find themselves having to run away from something. I hope you are the ones who make it.
Chapter 1
“Come on, Eve, time to get up,” a male voice sounded through the intercom into the small cell. The room consisted of a single bed, a bookcase filled with books, a square table in a corner with two chairs, and a toilet and sink that was hidden behind a waist-high piece of tiled wall. All the furniture was securely bolted to either the wall or the floor. The books were the only pieces of color in the stark, white tiled room.
Eve threw the blanket back and slid her legs over the edge of the bed.
“Morning, Jack. You’re on shift today, huh?” she said, lifting her gaze to the camera tucked securely in a wire cage over the steel door.
Standing up, she fluffed her pillow and made her bed. She had no idea why she did it, because every day when she came back from the morning routine she came back to clean bedding.
After she relieved herself and washed her hands she heard the audible click that unlocked the small sliding door to a cubbyhole where her meals were placed. Opening it, she reached in and pulled the plastic glass of orange juice out along with a paper bowl of mixed fruit. Placing them on the table, she went back and pulled out the paper plate with two pieces of lightly buttered toast, then sat at the table to eat.
“Another day, same routine,” she muttered, running a plastic comb through her hair and putting it up in a ponytail. “Who’s taking me to the gym today, Jack?”
“Bert is on shift this morning, Eve. If you have finished, stand by the door please.”
Inwardly groaning, she picked up her trash and placed it back into the cubbyhole then stood by the door.
The bolt to the steel door clanked and the door opened. On the other side stood a small man with a long, thin nose and beady, little brown eyes with huge eyebrows over the top of them. He was wearing the normal white coat over blue scrubs.
“Morning, Eve,” he squeaked out in his high-pitched voice.
“Morning, Bert.” She sighed. Bert was one of the scientists that she didn’t like. He had a real tendency to enjoy any pain that she had to go through.
Bert stepped back and a guard moved forward.
“Morning, Charlie,” she said, hiding the smile and happiness she felt at seeing him.
He was about a foot taller than she was, and he had tanned, muscled arms that bulged under his tight, black t-shirt. His right arm had some kind of tattoo on it; she could see it as it peeked just under the short sleeves. He was a whole lot better looking than any of the scientists in this place too.
Lifting her arms in the air, she waited until he placed his hands on her wrists and then ran them over her bare skin. They carried on over her white scrubs. She took a soft breath in as he skimmed the side of her breasts and carried on without stopping past her hips, then lower, over her ass and down her thighs. She felt her pussy clench as he did. He was the only one in this place who made her feel hot and flustered. But she had learned to hide as much emotion as she could from the White Coats—they like to learn new things about her and use it. After briefly looking into his bright green eyes, she closed hers and reached out with her mind feeling for his.
“Oh God, I love her skin. I’d love to feel her whole body under me. Just to feel her without clothes on. My cock is so hard right now.”
Quickly, she pulled back from back his thoughts. She looked down at him, watching as he reached her ankles, trying desperately to hold back a blush. She knew what sex was, having been taught about it when she was a teen, but she had never experienced it.
“Clean,” he muttered to Bert.
Knowing this meant it was safe for her to step out of the room, she moved out and began to walk down the hall with Charlie close behind her followed by Bert.
She knew the routine forward and backward. The mornings were always the same. She was allowed half an hour to get up and eat breakfast. She then went with the White Coat that was on shift to spend two hours in the gym. Although the Coats were different men or women, the guard would often stay the same. This seemed to be because the guard watched the female avidly and could predict what she might do before she did it.
Walking down the corridor, Eve saw that a few more doors than usual were wide open. She sneaked a peek into each room as she passed, but the cells were devoid of both person and items. She would love to ask questions, but knowing she wouldn’t get answers she didn’t bother. Reaching the end of the hallway, she pushed open the double doors and walked into a huge, white room, this one was filled with gym equipment.
There were only three other females in there today, each one with a White Coat and a guard beside them. Normally there would be five, one on each piece of equipment. Each of the females looked pretty similar—shoulder length, jet black, straight hair with heart-shaped faces. They all had athletic builds. With the constant two hour gym workout every morning and their diet being regularly watched not one of them had an ounce of fat. Charlie often said her breasts and butt were just the right size to fit in his hands, which made her secretly smile.
Bert attached monitors to her body and started the treadmill. Stepping onto it, she began her run. All the while Bert scribbled away on his chart. Charlie stood to the side of him, his eyes never leaving her.
When Eve first discovered she could read minds a few years back it came as a shock. Staying tight-lipped about it wasn’t easy at first. Hearing the disgusting thoughts some of the Coats had made her feel ill. Bert was a sick man—she tried not to read his mind very much. She also discovered she couldn’t read any female minds. Not just the other test subjects but the female scientists too; it was like hearing white static coming from the
m.
The Coats called this place Eden. A UFO had crashed nearby. The aliens inside hadn’t survived, but being creative, some scientist had managed to splice their DNA with human DNA, thus creating the women in this facility.
Eve knew of twenty females who had been created, and they all had human features except for one; Eve had never seen her but had heard of her. From what she had also heard most of the females had some kind of added ability, mainly telekinesis. She herself had not only that but could read male minds and see in the dark. She’d also been told she was stronger and more agile than most of the women. All the females that had been created had tiny, raised freckles that lit up when they became emotional. Some of the women even had a slight blue tint to their skin. When Charlie heard about the freckles he had some very naughty thoughts.
For some bizarre reason no male babies had made it through the fetus stage. She had been here for twenty-two years, and the routine hadn’t changed in all that time. Well, not unless you were being punished or picked out for certain tests.
As children they were just escorted around the complex by the scientists, but as she got older guards began to appear. She didn’t understand why until one day she had been in the gym when one of the girls decided to pick a few weights up with her telekinesis and throw them at the White Coat following her. Since then guards had been a permanent fixture. These men watched their subject and protected the scientists.
Chapter 2
For two hours Eve went from machine to machine doing various exercises. As each woman reached the end of their gym time, they disappeared into the shower room with their assigned Coat and guard following them. Two more females entered the room after Eve arrived and followed the same routine. Sometimes she would meet their eyes, hoping for something, anything really, but if a Coat saw any kind of interaction between them they were punished, so it didn’t happen often.
Bert was too busy taking notes today to care. Sometimes it was nice to get a Coat that looked bored or just couldn’t be bothered. When she did it helped to take a lot more information about the place in.
She sighed gratefully when the time came for her to shower. She was led to another white tiled room with an open doorway. All that was inside it was a shower and a table bolted to the floor that had new scrubs and the usual plain, white underwear in a plastic wrapping waiting on the table. Stripping, she placed her old scrubs and underwear into a cubbyhole and climbed into the shower. The water automatically streamed out, and she reveled in feeling the warm water rushing over her tired muscles. This was the only room that didn’t have a camera in it; she had no idea why, only that the guard stood directly outside the doorway, covering the only exit.
Reaching out with her mind again, she knew that Bert had gone off, leaving Charlie on his own.
Charlie had started working at Eden a year ago, taking over for Barry, her old guard. She had no idea why—Charlie was just there one morning. Eve would often try to get some kind of conversation out of the company she had, sometimes the scientist would talk and sometimes they wouldn’t. Barry had spoken the odd word here and there, but he wasn’t a big talker. Charlie, however, talked to her as often as he could, and they had grown closer over the last few months.
She used to stand under the shower for as long as possible, taking the small time to escape. But now she would rush through it, get dressed, and stand just inside the door so the camera outside couldn’t see her, and talk to Charlie. At first it had been hard, because he had worried that the camera would pick up that he was talking to her, but after a few months, when she felt she could trust him, she told him about her being able to read his mind. So now he would stand outside the door talking to her in his head while she whispered back.
Rushing through her shower, she quickly dressed and stood behind the doorway.
“I heard what you said earlier,” she whispered.
“Then you know just how much I love placing my hands on your body.”
“You shouldn’t think things like that. I might react and get caught.”
“I can’t help that you make my cock hard.” He chuckled in his head. “Stop peeking and you won’t get caught.”
“I can’t help it. I also like it when your hands roam over me. It feels good. Anyway, did you find anything on the blueprints as to which air shaft I need to take?” she asked.
Over the last few months Charlie had admitted he hated seeing her in this place, the tests she had to go through, the way she was treated. He hated this place in general. He wanted to rescue every female there, but not being able to get near any of the other females he had no choice but to only think of rescuing Eve.
“Yeah, I finally found out which air shaft in the dome goes straight up to the top floor off the car park next to where I park my truck. I managed to get the last screw out of the vent lid this morning. The entrance to it is hidden by a bunch of bushes in the east corner of the dome.”
“When we go in there today you can point it out, and I’ll see what it will take to get the vent off. Are you sure if we do this you won’t get into too much trouble if I manage to escape you?” she asked worriedly. She knew what his answer was going to be, but she didn’t want to lose him if she did get away or even get him into trouble if she didn’t.
“I should be the one asking you if you think you can climb up the air shaft for a mile, but don’t worry, we have seen the loose rocks by the lake. We practiced this...while walking you pick up a rock and smack me over the head with it.”
“I don’t want to hurt you.” The thought of hitting him over his head scared the crap out of her.
“You won’t hurt this thick head.” She could see his smile in her mind.
“Are you sure we will be able to find somewhere safe? You know they won’t stop looking for us.”
“It’s all sorted, honey. Don’t worry. I wish I could hold you in my arms right now, touching you, telling you it will be okay.”
“Me too,” she whispered.
“We have to do this soon, Eve. Two guards didn’t report in for their shift this morning, and when I asked another guard why, he said two of the tests subjects died in some kind of test. I’m worried. That’s three of you now that I know of that aren’t around.”
She couldn’t answer him. She knew that she was a subject to these White Coats, and she knew that one day her life would be extinguished. She was just glad to get as far as she had.

They had planned this escape; the only missing piece was choosing the right vent. The dome was in the center of the hidden underground complex. It was a circular room that was filled with grass, trees, and bushes, and in the center of the room was a lake filled with huge koi carp. Once a week the females were allowed an hour in the green room to have some time on their own. Well, that being they were watched by their guard and several cameras. There was only one entrance, but still they were watched.
Charlie had noticed the loose rocks a month ago. And then he discovered there was a shaft in the dome that led right up and out of the complex, coming out in the car park. He had started parking his truck next to the shaft with the hope that if he happened to find the right entrance to it and she could climb out she could hide in the hidden compartment he’d had specially made in his Ram 1500 pickup truck. He’d had a steel box added underneath the width of the vehicle and had it lined inside with padding to make sure if she managed to get inside she would at least be comfortable. The truck bed itself had been cut and made into a concealed door that could be bolted from the inside.
“Eve, time is up,” a tinny voice came through the intercom outside of the shower.
“I’m ready,” she said, walking to the center of the doorway, pretending to pull her top down.
Placing her arms in the air, she waited for Charlie to search her. All the females were searched each time they left their cell, the shower, or any room for tests. This procedure had been implemented shortly after Charlie started working at Eden. Eve had asked him about it once,
and he told her a couple of the scientists had been stabbed with various items that had been picked up from places. One female had even tried to escape with just a metal fork she had filed into a weapon.

Eve had been stripped down to her underwear, then she was strapped to a chair, and for the next hour she was prodded, poked, and pricked with needles taking her blood and various other specimens. She couldn’t escape, not even to climb into Charlie’s brain where she knew he’d be soothing her, but because of questions being fired at her she had to stay alert.
After that was done, she was led to her cell where her meal was promptly served via the cubbyhole and ate her dinner. Today she had a tuna salad and a bowl of mixed fruit with a plastic glass of pear juice. It always seemed to be the same stuff over and over. Only once had something been different. She had been treated for the first and only time to the taste of chocolate. When she had found the solid brown cube by her meal, she didn’t know what it was. Taking a tentative lick, she had rolled her eyes at the sweetness then spent the rest of her meal time licking and relishing the taste. It had also been the first time her freckles had lit up. Now that only happened once in a blue moon, much to the scientists’ disgust. They had tried numerous times to get them to light up, but it only seemed to happen when she experienced overwhelming emotions.
Sighing, she disposed of the paperware in the cubby and reached out to find Charlie. He was in the canteen. She didn’t know if he felt her or just soothed her naturally in his head all the time, but there he was eating his meal and going over their escape plan, all the while assuring her that it would be okay.
“We’re going to be okay. My family has an island just off the coast of Scotland. The only thing on it is a small cottage with three bedrooms. You can only reach the island by boat, so it’s safe. I found out about it by chance—a letter had come from some estate agent telling my father it was empty and needed new lodgers. I opened an account in a fake name and started paying for it. As far as the agents and my family know Mr. and Mrs. Smith now live there on their own. We shouldn’t be bothered.” His thoughts drifted off in other directions. “Mmm, this steak is good. Must get the train...”
